Stories we share become stores we remember.
My favorite Saturday tradition growing up was going to the library with my dad and picking out a new book for the week. We shared a love of reading, which made these days, as sporadically as they happened really special, and libraries will always have a warm place in my heart.
My kids and I are slowly falling into this rhythm, where Saturday mornings, I will take one (or all) of them out for an early morning coffee/cocoa, and we will do a quick library run before the weekend activities start.
Stories shape how we see the world and each other. Each month, Quiet Stacks offers a handpicked collection of children’s books, featuring diverse characters and themes to nourish wonder, spark imagination, and create meaningful moments between you and your little ones. These are books we’ve borrowed and loved, that I’m sure you will too.
You’ll notice I’ve chosen 15 books for the month, not 30. That’s intentional.
I’ve found that trying to read a brand-new book every day can feel rushed. Kids thrive on repetition. Hearing a story more than once helps build vocabulary, strengthens word recognition, and allows them to connect more deeply with the characters and themes. Plus, revisiting a beloved book makes reading feel like a joy, not a checklist. (This isn’t to say you shouldn’t read more than 15 books a month, go ahead girl, fill that cart!!)
These aren’t just books to read they’re stories to savor.
Unless otherwise noted, these books are between Reading Level 1-2.

✨ How to Order These Books from Your Library
If you’re new to using your library for curated book lists like this, here’s a simple step-by-step:
1️⃣ Find Your Library’s Website
Most libraries have an online portal where you can search the catalog and place holds. If you’re not sure, just Google “[Your County Name] Library catalog.”
2️⃣ Search for Each Title
Type the book title into the search bar. Some libraries let you filter by ‘children’s books’ for faster results.
Example:
Search: Saturday by Oge Mora
3️⃣ Place a Hold
Once you find the book, select "Place a Hold." This will reserve it for you. You can often choose your preferred pickup location if your library has multiple branches.
4️⃣ Pick Up & Enjoy!
Your library will notify you when your books are ready. Head in, pick them up, and enjoy your Quiet Stacks time together.
📝 Pro Tip:
I like to keep my library account open in one tab while I work down the list. It turns a 20-minute task into a month’s worth of beautiful reading.
