Unless the Lord Builds the House
How I’m Keeping Boundaries Between Work & Home (And Why I’m Committed to Building Slowly)
Earlier this year, I shared about stepping back from social media during Lent. I wrote about exhaustion, migraines, screen time, and the slow unraveling of my peace. I wrote about the quiet ache to live less online and more present in my real life. You can read that post here, if you missed it:
👉 How Giving Up Social Media Helped Me Hear God Again
That post wasn’t meant to be a manifesto. It was just me, processing aloud.
But looking back, I can see now: that was the beginning of this shift.
The Boundaries I’m Learning to Keep
Since then, I’ve been asking God to help me hold my work and my home in healthier tension. To stop striving. To stop measuring my worth by output. To resist the temptation to build platforms and chase algorithms when all He’s asked me to do is build quietly, faithfully, with Him at the center.
Psalm 127:1 keeps resurfacing:
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
It’s been convicting. And freeing.
Because while I love this work: the writing, the podcast, the community I feel called to build… I love my family more. I love my faith more. And I don’t want to lose sight of what matters most in pursuit of anything “successful” online.
It feels crazy to say that when I can fit all the followers I have in my average size living room—but it’s in this season of building, and being unknown, that the temptation to strive and get on the radar of the algorithm, and get as many followers as possible, as quickly as possible is strongest. Post 3 times a day, follow all the trends…this is all why I quit social media to begin with.
If God wants me to build this beyond my journal, into a ministry, it’s going to have to be with Him, as unto Him, not unto the algorithm. For me, it feels a little too close to an idol, at this point in my life, and He won’t bless that.
What This Looks Like Practically
Here’s what you can expect moving forward:
On social, I’ll be sharing new posts on a slow, gentle rhythm:
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Each day has its own focus:
🤍 Faith & Spiritual Rhythms for Busy Moms
🏡 Homeschooling, Homemaking, and Fun at Home
💻 Work-from-Home Life, Business, Done with Peace
I’ll share what I’m learning about motherhood, home, faith, and quiet work.
Some days it will be journal entries. Other days, resources or encouragement. Other days, it’ll be just for fun, and regular day in the life videos, because I love those. But every post will come from a place of rest, not striving.

Why I’m Sharing This
Because I know I’m not alone in this.
I know I’m not the only mom trying to steward faith, family, and meaningful work without letting the world, or the algorithm, dictate the pace.
I know I’m not the only one who wants to build something steady, rooted, and real.
So this is me, inviting you in.
Not to follow me, but to walk alongside me, slowly, intentionally.
If you’re tired of noise, of hustle, of running on empty… you’re welcome here.
Let’s build what matters, together.
Let’s trust God to build the house.
Thanks for being here. I’m grateful for every reader, every kind comment, every shared prayer. This space is for you, too.
