🕊️ The Quiet Hour | On Friendship & Staying When It's Hard

July 14, 2025

This Week’s Quiet Reflection

Today, we’re praying over friendship. The kind that stays. The kind that serves. The kind that reminds us we’re held — not just by people, but by God Himself.

If you’re carrying loneliness, discouragement, or the ache of wanting deeper connection, this is for you. If you’ve been tempted to pull away, to give up on friendship because it feels too hard, too awkward, or too one-sided, this is for you.

Because staying is ministry.
Showing up is ministry.
And we don’t do it in our own strength.

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” Acts 1:8

He helps us stay.
He helps us show up.
He helps us love even when it isn’t returned the way we hoped.

Friendship is part of how God forms us: through connection, through sacrifice, through staying even when it’s uncomfortable. Not because people are perfect, but because He is faithful.

"Your purpose isn’t just to find fulfilling work or be the perfect mom or the perfect wife.
Your purpose is to be formed into the image of Jesus, day by day, between now and eternity."

Friendship is one of the tools He uses.
Community helps us stay planted when we want to run.
Friends remind us who we are when we forget.
And even when it’s hard, hard isn’t the same as bad.

If you’re feeling weary, if you’ve been tempted to give up on friendship altogether, I pray this brings fresh hope.

Prayer for Friendship:

Father,
Fill us again with Your Spirit.
Help us stay rooted in love, even when it’s hard.
Help us love from fullness, not from fear of rejection.
Help us model friendship well, to our kids, to our communities, to the next generation.
Remind us that we are never alone.
You stay.
You strengthen.
You fill us so we can pour back out.

Amen.

Thank you for being here. I’ll see you again next Monday, 6 AM CT.
Until then, stay rooted. Stay prayerful. Stay connected.
You’re not alone.

Have a prayer request? Leave it below, and we’ll pray for you next week.
